The Three Hares
This sculptural piece explores the conflict between the pre-Christian religion and the onset of Christianity.  The once-sacred hare of fertility and rebirth twisted into a witch-animal aligned with witches and the Devil. In this change, we find the persecution of once-sacred animals, pagans and women

The Three Hares symbol is found across cultures with the meaning unknown. In particular, it is found in most abundance in Dartmoor and Devon where twenty-eight  Churches contain it. The motif is also often associated with the Tin Miners of Dartmoor and is locally referred to as the ‘Tinners Rabbit’.
